I would like to do more than join a media site. I do appreciate the link though, as I like to keep educated.

We should be pushing our own governments to take action, and should also take direct action in whatever way we can. We should be boycotting Chinese made goods, boycotting the Olympics and encouraging others to do the same, and start a media campaign against China and petition corporations to pull out of China or lose our business.

I joined Free Tibet org and they send me mails with suggestions as to whom to write, with addresses, and case details. There does seem to be some influence in releasing prisoners and preasurising the UK government.

If someone has a better idea, please do let me konw.
  • There is a specific link on the Students For a Free Tibet site provides you with a letter template and automatically locates and sends your email to congress and reps:

    actionnetwork.org/campaign/supporttibet

The action points are buried a bit in the template, so I highlighted them as follows--the template can be modified and thoughts about Olympics obviously thrown in. I believe it is the athletes themselves who have the ultimate say in whether or not to participate? I'd like to know more...

Here is my revision, in case you want to use/build on..

"I am urging you take a stand on the following issues which would greatly help the people of Tibet who have endured 60 years of violence and oppression by the Chinese while the world has stood by and watched.

As the situation in Lhasa is now critical and the world media is trained on the actions of the Chinese, please follow the moral obligations of our country's commitment to freedom and democracy by:

    1) Speaking out forcefully against China's brutal crackdown in Tibet.

    2) Strongly supporting the Dalai Lama's call for a United Nations team of investigators to go to Tibet as soon as possible.

    3) Urge China to withdraw military and security forces, release those detained, allow peaceful protest, cease house-to-house searches and refrain from any further arrests of Tibetan protesters

    4) Demand that China immediately allow foreign journalists back into all Tibetan areas (Tibetan Autonomous Region as well as the Tibetan areas of Gansu, Qinghai and Sichuan). "

Please speak out now to help ensure that further violence against Tibetans is stopped."
